May 15 - Great Urban Race

CHASE Sports Group is proud to be the local sports league partner of The Great Urban Race. Haven't heard about the Great Urban Race? Well, simply put, its a wacky urban adventure. Teams of two solve twelve clues, have a wild city adventure and complete fun challenges while discovering the city in a fresh way! The objectives are simple: (1) to have fun; (2) to have a city adventure; (3) to properly compete all the clues first.

Each team will be given an envelope that contains twelve or more clues ranging in difficulty at the start of the race. The clue sheet will contain a mixture of clues – some physical and some mental. During the race teams will have the option to skip one clue. Most races contain one or more Detours, which is a choice between two checkpoints. Choose the one you think will be easier or faster (or more fun). There may be a clue that is mandatory. Failure to complete a mandatory clue will result in disqualification. Teams will not have the option to skip a mandatory clue. For every incorrect or incomplete clue, a 30 minute penalty will be added to the team’s finish time. Teams will not have the option of returning to properly complete any incomplete or incorrect clue.

Most Kickin' Tailgate Party - This Saturday April 17

As a reminder, this Saturday is our league's big tailgate party with DC United. Please let us know by RSVPing on Facebook so that we know how many kegs that we need to bring. If you'd like to attend the DC United soccer game afterward, you can purchase your tickets on-line (see below) or just bring a $23 check tonight (make it out to "CHASE Kickball").

Let us know how many kegs we need!

D.C. United is hosting Social Sports Night on Saturday, April 17th, for local leagues that cater to young adults who want to drink, be social, and play sports. You can bet that CHASE Kickball will be there to host the Most Kickin' Tailgate Party: Part II with free beer, free jello shots, and hotdogs (in that order). And expect a full-out party with Arlington Social Sports Club, DC Cornhole, MESports, and DC Broomball along with beer cozies and bottle-opener key chains.

The tailgate party is free to all AASL players and guests and you will be responsible for purchasing your own DC United ticket.

Advance tickets may be purchased here.

E-mail jack@playaasl.com to find out how you can win a free team entree or use the promo code CHASESPORT to get a $5 discount.

Draft [drahft] – noun: (1) Sports. A selecting or drawing of new players from a choice group of amateur players by professional teams, esp. a system of selecting new players so that each team in a professional league receives some of the most promising players. (2) Alcohol. Beer drawn or available to be drawn from a cask or barrel.

Mixer [MIK-ser] – noun: (1) A social event, as a party or dance, where people can meet informally. (2) Also, mix. A beverage, as ginger ale, fruit juice, or soda water that can be combined with liquor to produce a mixed drink, esp. a highball.

Whether you’re a returning veteran player or a first-time rookie, come join the rest of the CHASE Kickball league for its 2010 pre-season DRAFT/Mixer. It’s a great opportunity to meet long-forgotten teammates and to recruit new talent. The league provides the kegs and each team provides its own unique cocktail. Participates must circulate among the tables to pick up a new drink. Look for classic crowd favorites like the Kickin Kicker [Jello] Shots, the Mexican Prairie Fire, or the Gin Bucket (served with a turkey baster). Think of the DRAFT/Mixer like the NBA draft but without all the hassle. Just impress people with your kicking or flipping prowess.

In the event of rain, the CHASE back-up location (sans BYOB) will be McGinty's Public House (3650 S. Glebe Rd. Suite 170), which is right across from Camden Potomac Yard and located above Harris Teeter and the AASL back-up location (sans BYOB) is Tortoise & Hare.

April 22 - Exercise Pole Competition for Charity

Believe it or not, there are more than 13,000 women around the Baltimore/DC Area that take pole and exotic dance classes*. In fact, there's even a pole dance/fitness convention coming to DC on Saturday, April 24th and Sunday, April 25th, 2010.

Here's the plan, we're going to collect $20 at the door with 100% of all proceeds going to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Midtown Loft is going to offer drink specials all night and a percentage of all sales will go towards charity too.

We'll get 10 to 15 contestants who will be judged on creativity, choreography, and technical skills (e.g. this picture shows an Inverted K ... not an Inverted L). We'll award prizes for the best costume as well as the best overall performer. We'll even have local celebrities as the judge.
