Otherwise I'll see you at 6:30/7:15.

As the time to put away the rubber balls, plastic cones, and chewed up bases (but not the flip cup tables, those never get put away) draws near, the end of season festivities will soon be upon us. The season for kickball may be over, but the season for drinking is still going strong. CHASE Kickball invites you to the following upcoming events.

EOS Party - November 13th
The official end of season party will take place at The Blaguard (formerly Common Share) at 18th & U St. from 8-11pm. Festivities will include at 3 hour open bar and presentation of the golden keg trophy to District champions That's What She Said. The theme will be a graffiti party.

BCMC2 - November 20th
This will be the 2nd edition of the legendary Ballston Common Mall Crawl. We will start out with a pre-party and check-in at First Down Sports Bar, and then hit every establishment in the mall that serves alcohol. $15 will include a t-shirt, free beer at First Down, and a pre-paid sake bomb at Shiki Sushi.

Fall Week 6

District Kickballers,

Tonight's games are canceled due to rain. I never like to cancel games, but at least it was an easy decision this time.

We will have make-up games starting at 11:00 am on Saturday before the playoffs start. It will be optional to attend these make-up games, but please let us know if your team does not plan to show. It will not effect your playoff eligibility, but may effect the seeding. The actual playoffs will then start around 12:30. The regular season make-ups will be 5 innings with a 45 minute time limit as usual. The playoff games will also be 5 innings, but with a 60 minute time limit, and extra innings will be played until there is a winner.

It will be a hot one, so stay hydrated. (You can dehydrate later at the bar.)

In other league news, the CHASE Flip Cup Tournament has been scheduled for 1pm October 16th at McFadden's. So keep hitting the tables at Aria to practice and evaluate your teams' talent.

Fall Week 4 Newsletter

District Kickballers,

We finally got the season underway last Thursday, and I thought we had a pretty good week of kickball and bar action. The weather forecast is clear and sunny, so I'm expecting another great day for kickball.

Next Thursday was scheduled to be an off day, but we will be making up the rained out games from week 1 then.

Upcoming Events:

The mid-season party is being scheduled for September 17. We'll be taking the Boomerang Bus for a night of chaos around DC. Let us know if there are any particular bars or places you'd like to see on the agenda. Also, there will be a $10 open bar from 8pm-11pm this Saturday at Tom Tom in Adams Morgan. This is technically the Constitution Conference kick-off party, but all District players are invited to come drink as well. RSVP here to be added to the list.

September 11, 2010 is the 2nd annual 9/11 National Day of Service & Remembrance. Greater DC Cares will support this effort by engaging more than 5,500 volunteers in the region in service on that day. Participants will clean parks, serve meals to the hungry, restore our national monuments, spend time with seniors, and much more. Team up with other CHASE kickballers to serve the community for the National Day of Service. To join the team or just get more information, click here. It will be a lot of fun and will generate some good karma while we’re at it.

Fall Week 3 Newsletter

Happy Thursday everybody! It looks like we may actually get to play a kickball game this week. There are storms forecast for the morning but should be over by 10:00 AM. If for some reason there is rain tonight, I suggest we all get hammered beforehand so that we think there is sunshine all the time like the guy in those Malibu commercials.

Last week's games will be rescheduled for September 30th. We will be playing the Week 3 schedule today.

Fall Week 2 Newsletter

DIST Kickballers,
Tomorrow we will play the Week 2 games on the schedule as published. Week 1's games will be played on Sept. 2, which is the designated make-up date.

There is an error on the referee schedule for Week 2, since Suck My Kick obviously can't ref their own game at 6:30. That's What She Said will cover that game and SMK will take their spot for the early game in Week 6.

New t-shirts are being printed in the colors you all requested but have not arrived yet. We will be handing out temporary shirts from our current inventory for this week.

There is a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon, but unless I am struck by lightning or kicked out by the park police, I do not plan on leaving. (If anyone finds me unconscious on the mall, please call 911.) Assuming everything works out I'll see you at the fields tomorrow.

End of Season (EOS) Details

The EOS Tournament begins Saturday, June 12, starting 10:30AM at our regularly scheduled fields. CHASE will set up a hospitality tent with non-alcoholic beverages available. The EOS tournament brackets will be published Friday, June 4. The following times are approximate start times:

Summer 2010 Season Announced

We hoped you enjoyed the past season of District Kickball. Our next season for Thursday night kickball begins mid-July with games kicking-off July 22. Registration fees are a flat $45 and we are doing away with late fees altogether ... making CHASE Kickball the cheapest kickball league in the city. Moreover, we're moving to Aria Pizzeria located in the International Trade Center (13th NW & Pennsylvania NW) which is just as close as the Exchange ... except that they have a bigger patio.

Saturday, June 19 - It's what you've all been training for ... the CHASE Flip Cup Invitational. All teams from CHASE Kickball are invited to send out your best squad. Teams of 6 will compete in a Best-of-5 match up. To register your team, just have your team captain e-mail James Cargo at james@chasekickball.com.
Friday, June 25 - Arlington Crab Fest hosted by the Arlington Athletic & Social League. $25 gets you all you can eat crabs and beer. For more details, please check out http://arlingtoncrabfest.eventbrite.com/
Saturday, June 26 - CHASE Goes Tubing & Beer Tasting. We'll be leaving DC at 9:00 am and traveling via coach bus to the Shenandoah River. After a full morning of tubing, we'll regroup on shore for a catered lunch before heading out to a local brewery where we'll have a private tasting of six different beers (6 oz glasses each) led by the Brew Master. Saturday, June 5 - For all our cornhole (bean bag toss) players, District Cornhole is hosting its inaugural charity tournament this weekend at RFK Stadium Lot 8. The tournament begins at 3PM with free beer and t-shirts. Each team registration helps raise $30 for United 4 DC to fight childhood illiteracy. Championship prizes include tickets to the upcoming Booze Cruise, Washington Nationals baseball tickets, and DC United soccer tickets.

Charity Cornhole Tournament - June 5

District Cornhole and the CHASE Sports Group is proud to sponsor the inaugural cornhole charity tournament benefiting United for D.C. Each tournament registration will help raise $30 to help disadvantaged youths in the Greater Washington, DC area. Each registration also includes free beer throughout the tournament and a t-shirt.

Prizes include Washington Nationals Baseball tickets, DC United Soccer tickets, CHASE Booze Cruise tickets, and many more.
